Keto Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe
When I was a boy, I wondered how in the world people could eat Blue Cheese dressing. It had these bits of stinky grossness in it that tasted awful; not realizing, of course, that those were actual bits of blue cheese. As I’ve matured, however, and my tastes have changed, I find that the stinkier the cheese, the better I like it.
Like many others, I tried to stay away from it in lieu of lighter options since Blue Cheese Dressing tends to have a good bit of fat in it. A traditional diet, of course, says fat is a ‘No No’. When Rebecca and I flipped the switch to a Keto Lifestyle, though, all of that changed. Fat was literally back on the table. The part of this wonderfully stinky, creamy dressing we began to watch for were the carbs.
For some bizarre reason, food companies that manufacture blue cheese dressing see fit to add sugar and/or carb-laden additives to their recipes. We also found that a lot of the popular brands contain hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Stay away from those, kids. On Keto, you want your body burning fat for fuel. Hydrogenated oils are very bad fuel sources.
So we went on a quest to develop a blue cheese dressing recipe we like, that has the fat we need to be Keto, and that leaves out all those pesky carbohydrates. Rebecca and I have tested and tweaked this recipe a bunch, so we feel like it’s ready to share. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do… on everything. Seriously, I’ve dunked almost all the edible things in the house in this stuff because I love it that much. But it’s especially good on my Smoked Jack Black Pepper Chicken Wings.
They’re made with Old No. 7, plenty of black pepper and enough smoke to give them a flavor you can’t get enough of!

- One recipe of Keto Mayo – You can find our recipe for that here. Or you can use about 1 1/4 cup of full fat mayo of your choice. Honestly, though, making your own is too easy, and it raises the cool factor when you tell people you made your own Blue Cheese Dressing from scratch.
- A cup of sour cream. Use the full fat stuff here as well.
- Heavy whipping cream: The recipe below will list this as 2 tablespoons, but really, just add enough to get the consistency you want in your dressing.
- Pink Himalayan salt. Regular salt will do, but we like the health benefits of this.
- 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles. I like to sprinkle some on top too, but I love the stuff. Rebecca made me pair the blue cheese back to half a cup in this recipe because she says it gets a little overwhelming, but if you like more, just add a little more. I promise not to tell her.
- A teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. You can use lemon juice here if you like. I prefer Apple Cider Vinegar simply for the health benefits.
- One teaspoon of black pepper. Fresh, coarse ground is best, but the regular stuff will work just fine.
Blue Cheese Dressing Instructions
Putting this dressing together is simple. Just put all your ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until it’s well combined. I find that it works best to put the heavy whipping cream almost last. That way, you can add as much as you need to get the consistency you want. And then add the blue cheese last. It just makes it easier incorporate the other ingredients without the chunks of cheese clogging up the works.
Your fresh, homemade Keto Blue Cheese Dressing will keep in the fridge for a week or two as long as you keep it in a sealed container. Remember, if you used that Keto Mayo recipe, it has raw egg in it, so make every effort to keep it refrigerated as much as possible. Also, if you’re pregnant, nursing or have a weak constitution, we don’t recommend eating raw eggs at all.

Keto Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe
Per Tablespoon - Calories 109 Fat 11.4 Carbs 0.4 Protein 2
Add everything except Heavy Whipping Cream and Blue Cheese Crumbles to a bowl and whisk until thoroughly combined.
Add heavy whipping cream a little at a time while you whisk until you get to the consistency you want.
Add the blue cheese crumbles and gently fold them into the dressing.
